Moving inland from the coastal village of Elie in the East Neuk of Fife lies one of the smallest villages in the area, the pretty village of Kilconquhar. Kilconquhar Parish Church sits atop a small hill and offers great views over Kilconquhar Loch. The freshwater loch is almost invisible from the village and we found it difficult to gain access to get this wee clip. Kilconquhar Castle, built in the 1500s, is situated on the outskirts of the village on Kilconquhar Estate, which has been converted into a holiday village. We stayed in one of the houses dotted around the extensive grounds. The estate offers a unique holiday experience with opportunities for exploring the surrounding woodland, horse-riding, golfing, swimming, tennis or simply relaxing in this stunning rural location.
