Visiting the picturesque small town of Culross on the Firth of Forth in Fife, with its collection of wonderfully preserved 17th Century buildings, cobbled streets and narrow wynds, gives the impression that you have stepped back in time. It is a fascinating place to visit with lots of interesting sites to marvel at and enjoy and is one of the real hidden gems in the Kingdom of Fife. Culross Palace is a striking introduction to this small royal burgh. Built by Sir George Bruce, a wealthy merchant, between 1597 and 1611 it is beautifully preserved with original interiors with painted woodwork and a decidedly distinctive exterior. The lovely little palace gardens offer spectacular views over the town and across the Forth.
