Anstruther is a quaint seaside village, situated in the East Neuk of Fife, with cobbled streets, narrow wynds and a scenic harbour at its heart. The harbour used to be bustling with fishing boats but now mainly hosts pleasure crafts. Anstruther's connection with the fishing industry has not been forgotten and is home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum. Set in a series of atmospheric 16th and 17th century buildings, the museum offers a real insight into the history of Scottish fishing. From the harbour you can take a boat trip to the rugged Isle of May, just a few miles off shore. This remarkable nature reserve, which is only about a mile long, becomes a breeding ground for sea birds between April and July and the dramatic cliffs are literally covered with thousands of birds.
