The picturesque East Lothian village of Gullane is a very well established golf resort with three high quality golf courses on offer including, Muirfield, which has hosted the Open Championship on numerous occasions. The village boasts some of the most spectacular and eye-catching villas in the area. Gullane's origins date back to the 800s when a church was established. Golf has been played here since 1854, however, golf isn't Gullane's only attraction. The award-winning Gullane Bents, backed by vast sand dunes, is one of the best beaches in East Lothian with wonderful views out to the Firth of Forth. The beach is a popular destination in all seasons and all weathers. Gullane is part of The John Muir Way, a 45 mile coastal walkway in honour of the conservationist John Muir who was born in Dunbar. The route offers spectacular views along the rugged East Lothian coastline.
